Miesha Tate to make her flyweight debut
Miesha Tate is considered one of the pioneers of women’s mixed martial arts. She, along with Ronda Rousey, made WMMA popular across the globe. ‘Cupcake’ joined the UFC in 2013 and is a former women’s bantamweight champion. Tate retired from the sport back in 2016, but made a surprising return in 2021.
She took on Marion Reneau in her comeback bout and put on an impressive performance. The 19-8 fighter won the fight via TKO in the third round. However, she wasn’t successful in her last fight. She took on Ketlen Vieira at UFC Fight Night 198 and lost the fight via a unanimous decision.
Now she is ready to drop down a weight class and fight in the flyweight division. She is scheduled to take on the number 3 ranked flyweight, Lauren Murphy, at UFC Fight Night 209 on May 14, 2022.
