Former UFC featherweight title challenger Chad Mendes will soon debut in a different form of combat sports. ‘Money’, who had an impressive career in the UFC, recently announced the news on his official social media account.

Mendes will now make his debut in the Bare-knuckle Fighting Championship on 19th February. This will see him end a hiatus of just over three years; his last fight was against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 232.

The ex-UFC fighter posted on Instagram and wrote in the caption-

“It’s been a lifelong grind and it ain’t over yet! Feb 19 I’m bringing the heat in Florida. I’ll have ticket info soon guys. For anyone else looking to watch, all you have to do is download the BKFC app and subscribe. It’s that easy! @bareknucklefc let’s do this….”

Although the promotion is yet to make any official announcement of his opponent, MMA Junkie reports reveal Mendes will face Joshuah Alvarez at 155. The event is expected to take place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

‘Money’ isn’t the only former UFC fighter to make this transition to bare-knuckle boxing. A few other fighters have also tried their hands in this sport after departing from the UFC.

It has become a common trend for fighters to enter other promotions after parting ways with the UFC. While some continue their MMA career in different promotions, others walk a different path.

One of the forms of combat sports that has garnered a lot of attention from the MMA community is bare-knuckle boxing. Former UFC names such as Artem Lobov, Paige VanZant, Ricco Rodriguez, Chase Sherman, and Jason Knight have dipped their hands in bare-knuckle competition.

Recently, former welterweight fighter Mike Perry also announced his move to BKFC. He will now take on Julian Lane in the main event of KnuckleMania 2 on February 19, 2022, i.e. the same card as Mendes.
