Both Masvidal and Oliveira threw a fair share of insults at McGregor’s way while calling him out. “Gamebred” clarified that he wanted to fight “The Notorious” but the latter kept turning down the fight. Meanwhile, “Do Bronx” accused McGregor of picking and choosing his opponents.
In his video, Cormier agreed that McGregor gets to pick his fights. He stated that it was a luxury that came with the star power McGregor had. Subsequently, he advised both Jorge Masvidal and Oliveira to keep doing what they were doing and maybe turn it up a notch.
He said, “I think for these guys to get McGregor to fight them, especially where they’re all in their careers right now, I think you got to keep insulting him and I think you got to go further.”

According to Cormier, losing the lightweight belt made Charles Oliveira a significantly less enticing fight for Conor McGregor. For Cormier, “that belt was the one thing that made him [Oliveira] valuable to Conor.” The former Olympian also tried to explain McGregor’s point of view.
He said, “Conor thought, ‘Well, this is a guy that strikes. This is a guy that can be hurt. This is the guy that holds the championship. So I want to fight that dude.'” He further added, “But when you’re talking star power and risk management, you ain’t looking to fight ‘Do Bronx’ if it ain’t for something grand, like a championship.”
