Fabricio Werdum ‘Vai Cavalo’ recently left the UFC to test himself in the free agency market. Bellator seemed to be the next destination for Werdum, but negotiations have not gone as planned. Now, the former UFC heavyweight champion is looking at a potential move to PFL.
A rematch with Fedor was hyped up with Werdum leaving the UFC. ‘Vai Cavalo’ shocked the world in 2010 by submitting the legendary Fedor and ending his stunning winning streak.

Now 10 years from their first fight, a potential rematch was in the works under the Bellator banner. However, negotiations seemed to have stalled.
Werdum said, “It didn’t happen that I closed with them because Bellator wanted to do the rematch with Fedor Emelianenko in my first fight with them. I respect Fedor a lot, I can’t say that he didn’t want to fight, but there was no negotiation with Fedor, on his part he didn’t have to have this first fight.”
“Bellator wanted this to be my first fight to have that impact already, and then close four or five more fights as a contract.”
The Brazilian former champion now seems to have turned his attention elsewhere.

The format and promotion has caught ‘Vai Cavalo’s’ eye. He said, “I am also aware that (my manager) Ali Abdelaziz is talking to the PFL, and it may be that I will enter this championship. I don’t know if it is very well known in Brazil, but it is like a championship, you enter and make four fights, you win these four fights you are the champion and you win the prize of one million dollars, plus your purse, so that interested me a lot.”
Werdum, 43, has beaten some of the best fighters in the world. He holds wins over the likes of Fedor Emelianenko, Cain Velasquez, and Alistair Overeem.
