“I’m surviving, but I’ll never be the same. I don’t think I’ll ever be the same,” voiced Francis Ngannou as he broke down talking about his deceased son, Kobe. The former heavyweight champion of the world was struck by the lightening of bad news back in April, Ngannou took to his socials to reveal the sad demise of his 15-month-old son, Kobe. The entire MMA community was stunned by the revelation as the French-Cameroon star never really gave any clue about his son’s illness. It was such a heartbreaking event for Ngannou that he considered retirement.
“It’s not that I have come close to retiring. It’s just that in this circumstance you think, you have different thoughts,” said Ngannou. Retirement is not in the fighter’s books now, as he is about to come back to the MMA stage almost three years after competing in boxing. This time, Ngannou’s sole motivation is his son.

He further added, “The past three months haven’t been the easiest I think it has been by far the hardest shape in life since I lost my son. For some time, I felt like I didn’t even have to do this or questioning about if I should do it or fight again or something, but I know that my son had something good in his memory and I wanted to do something good in his memory. To use this not to be the reason for me to quit, but maybe to be a motivation and also to fight for him.”

“1,000 can’t change life, depending on where we are standing from. You’re speaking from my side or from your side, or from other side. You give 10 million to somebody, it’s just another 10 million and it won’t change anything in his life. You give 1,000 to somebody, it changes his life. He saves his life, he would take that 1,000, maybe send his kid to school or maybe buy them some medicine, saving them from illness or something. So, life-changing money is not the amount,” said Ngannou.
Hence, when the host of “The Diary of a CEO” mentioned that Ngannou has earned a life-changing amount of money, he most definitely highlighted what the term “life-changing” truly means. The perception of reality has truly changed for Francis Ngannou since April.
