Charles Oliveira turned in a skillful performance that will be remembered for ages when he faced Beneil Dariush at UFC 289. ‘do Bronx’ not only halted the Iran-born American fighter’s juggernaut but also proved his credentials to be next in the line. The Brazilian fighter produced another dazzling knockout win as his striking game stood out in what was earmarked as a spectacle for grappling. However, the lightweight champion Islam Makhachev believes Oliveira still falls “levels” behind him.
The 33-year-old fighter entered the Rogers Arena in Vancouver on June 10 on the heels of a failed attempt to surmount the Dagestani fighter. The former UFC champion in a flashy display left his opponent flabbergasted and collected a first-round stoppage win. Despite this splendid victory, the Russian champion, dismissive of Oliveira’s skills, penned an amusing tweet.
