Conor McGregor‘s success is a testament to the old maxim that combat sports is a part of show business, at the end of the day. His charismatic personality, excellent mic skills, exciting fighting style, and overall entertainment value made him the most famous (or infamous) star in MMA history.
And one important factor behind his success is his confidence, which seems not to have been affected by the downward trend his career has taken recently. ‘Notorious’ has been out of the ring for the last two years, recovering from a foot injury he suffered in his loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The Irishman replied to a twitter post, showing he was in high spirits.

McGregor has not had a good year. He went against Michael Chandler as head coach at this season of The Ultimate Fighter 31 this year. His team lost all fights in the early rounds, except one. And the exact date of his return to the UFC remains unclear.

Conor McGregor was slated to fight Chandler in a welterweight bout in December this year. However, McGregor has not entered the USADA testing pool yet, which all fighters are required to be in at least six months before they can fight. The UFC can exempt McGregor from the six-month rule if it wants. But, there has been no official word on it yet.
Earlier this month, the Dubliner came out with a series of distressed voice notes lamenting ‘they’ would not let him fight and that he was being stopped from earning his livelihood. Most people took this to mean that the bout against Chandler in December was off, although the exact reason remains unclear.

A few days later, however, McGregor took a u-turn and told fans on Twitter that December was back on the table. But without an official announcement by the UFC and Dana White, the exact timeline for the fight remains unclear. Do you think the UFC should exempt McGregor from the six-month rule? Or do you think it would be unfair on Chandler? Let us know in the comments section below.
