The UFC held several highly successful events in 2022 that included some amazing fights. And Dana White is eyeing to add another promotion in addition to the UFC in order to step up the ante: the social media favorite slap-fighting league that’ll go by the name Power Slap. The UFC stands as one of the most prominent combat sports promotions in the world today. But for White to jump into this bandwagon of slap fighting has shocked the fans. And from their standpoint, their uproar holds merit.

Additionally, the slap-driven league has a new coach who will train the female participants in honing their forms and techniques. And the UFC fanbase was in no way excited by that. Not only fans, but UFC fighter Philp Rowe has also voiced dismay, and the fans agree with him. As a result, the general public has been very critical of this new Power Slap development.

MMA fans are accustomed to watching some high-octane mixed martial arts combat that involves techniques, strategy, and a whole lot of physical and mental fortitude. And it just doesn’t click with them to witness two rivals hit each other until one gives up. This is evident in their responses to the latest clip posted on the Power Slap’s Instagram handle, introducing the new coach of the league, Sheena Bathory.

Despite the backlash, Dana White stresses the fact that Power Slap holds a lot of promise. The concept of slap fighting captivated him the moment he first saw it online. And what came next was White entering the realm of this slap fight and spending a great deal of money to make it happen.

Talking about the Power Slap, Dana White stated, “I saw some footage of slap fighting on social media and I was instantly hooked. From the first day I saw it, I felt like this could be big. I knew what needed to be done to make it a real sport just like we did with MMA.” However, the fans don’t see that as being the case so far.
