Such a revelation took place in an episode where Joe Rogan recalled one of his taekwondo fights in 1987.

Joe Rogan recalls knocking out his opponent in taekwondo

On JRE episode 1360, featuring the comedian, Nikki Glaser, Joe Rogan talked about his taekwondo fight, back in 1987. He recalls the events of the US National tournament. He knocked out his opponent with a spinning kick to the head. “I knocked this guy out and he never got up, and I started thinking that that could be me”, said Rogan. Following this, the officials took his opponent to the hospital. Moreover, when young Joe Rogan went to talk to his instructor, he couldn’t believe what his instructor had to say.

“He said to me, I heard you had a really good knockout”, Rogan mimicked his instructor. “It was really scary because he never got up. I thought he was dead, and he goes ‘sometimes they die”, he continued. Even though Rogan’s instructor was a pretty intense guy, who used to train soldiers back in Vietnam, he couldn’t help but be surprised. “I was like sometimes they die. Holy sh*t! I’m them. Them is me”, he recalled.

Joe Rogan’s wheel kick did immense damage

The UFC commentator was just 19 years old when the incident happened. He claims that he never thought of hitting someone that hard again. He further explained the fight and the kick. His opponent was coming at him and Rogan responded with a wheel kick. Indeed, the impact had been so much that Rogan had to limp for days after the fight. Rogan added that someone had never knocked him out like that. “That was a bad one”, he said, “He was like face- face planted, he was snoring.”

“A hundred percent he got brain damage”, he said. Nikki Glaser was shocked at that. When she asked if the same could happen to Rogan now, he denied it. Rogan justified that he practices Jiu-Jitsu, which doesn’t involve striking.
