Conor McGregor, who hasn’t competed since 2021, can finally return to combat sports, though not with the UFC. This Sunday (29), the Irishman stoked rumors on social media about a probable multimillion-dollar boxing fight between him and YouTuber Logan Paul in India. On his official ‘X’ account, ‘Notorious’ posted ’emojis’ of the country’s flag with a heart alongside it.

According to the profile ‘The Mac Life,’ linked to the former UFC champion, each athlete would receive a purse of 250 million dollars for the fight. In fact, the publication, made in collaboration, also appears on McGregor’s own profile. This means that McGregor would be making major money outside the UFC now. But what about during his stint in the Dana White-led promotion? What were his five biggest fights when it comes to payouts? Without further ado, let’s find out.

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s feud became one of the most heated in MMA history, which finally ended with the Dagestani fighter’s round 4 win inside the cage at UFC 229. In addition to the constant exchanges of darts between the two, which at times appeared to go beyond the limits of what was acceptable, the athletes and their teams were involved in countless controversies before and after the fight.

Just after submitting McGregor in the fourth round, ‘The Eagle’ directly reproached Dillon Danis, the Irishman’s BJJ coach, and as if that were not enough, he jumped over the cage to attack him, which caused a huge brawl between the two corners that resulted in a good handful of suspensions and fines imposed by the Nevada Athletic Commission. A black eye to sport, some said. However, it is worth noting that it was the same kind of heat that led the event to become such a massive success.

Even part-time fans wanted their hands on the tickets to witness the bad blood finally culminate into a brawl, and so it did. As a result, the PPV against Khabib Nurmagomedov became the one that gave Conor McGregor the biggest payout of his MMA career. With a base salary of $2,950,000, he earned a PPV payout of $25,500,000. This means that McGregor took home a massive $28,480,000 by the night’s end.

Back in 2021, the fight universe experienced one of the most anticipated MMA events, UFC 264. The main event of the night featured the trilogy fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. The victory went to the American fighter by TKO at the end of the first round after McGregor’s serious tibia injury prevented him from continuing to fight.

As reported by MMA Salaries, Conor McGregor earned about $23 million at UFC 264 despite his loss to ‘The Diamond.’ In this major money earned by ‘The Notorious,’ we must include 18 million dollars that come from the PPV purchases. The Irishman’s base salary was $5 million, but the bonus for the event’s sales was very considerable.

However, he had to pay the price for the major payout as well. After all, McGregor had to undergo surgery for this injury and has yet to make a return to combat sports. After the fight, Dana White did promise fans that there would be a fourth between the two when the Irishman recovers; however, it seems like the promise would never be fulfilled since now Poirier is looking for a possible last fight, and for sure it won’t be with McGregor.

UFC 257

As for his professional record, UFC 257 was not the best event for Conor McGregor. However, in economic terms, the Dana White-led promotion’s former featherweight and lightweight champion had nothing to complain about. After all, for the attraction held in Abu Dhabi back in 2021, the Irishman lost the rematch to Dustin Poirier when he was knocked out in the second round.

However, what he did manage to win was a massive purse. According to reports, McGregor earned a base salary of five million dollars. It’s worth remembering that the athlete also takes home a portion of pay-per-view sales. This time, it was a massive sum of $15,500,000. This means ‘The Notorious’ took home a massive sum of $20,510,000.

UFC 246

At UFC 246 back in 2020, Conor McGregor proved that he is a UFC star by knocking out Donald Cerrone. But outside the Octagon, the Irishman also showed his strength and how much money he could receive for his performance. According to reports, ‘The Notorious’ received almost three times more than all the other 21 fighters combined in the UFC back then. Just for entering the octagon, McGregor earned a base pay of $3 million.

This amount does not take into account the pay-per-view sales he earned, which was $12,415,613, and the $50,000 prize for the Performance of the Night, which he received after defeating the ‘Cowboy’ with 40 seconds of fighting. In the end, Conor McGregor took home $15,475,613. It is worth noting that all the other athletes who competed in the event took home a little over a million dollars, which shows the popularity that the Irish star had already achieved before the event.

Conor McGregor’s main virtues and skills within the Octagon have always been his boxing. He made sure to let everyone know about this once again back when he defeated Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205. Surely the former 155-pound champion was prepared to defend himself from the blows of both fists of the Irish fighter; however, he really did not succeed. A series of combinations knocked him out; while using simple left shots, Conor McGregor managed to take Alvarez to the ground thrice during the fight.

With such a dominating performance, ‘The Notorious’ justified his base pay of $4,372,374. But that wasn’t all; he also earned a PPV purchase of $2,350,000. By the end of the night, the total amount he took home was $6,812,374. Now, it would be interesting to see how much he charges the UFC to finally return to the Octagon. Do you believe he would be earning more than what he took home after UFC 229? Let us know in the comments.
