Nobody can deny the hype that the fight cards at UFC 291 created. The main event and the co-main events blew away people’s minds. Two controversies happened on the night of the event. First, Alex Pereira won his first Light Heavyweight bout against Jan Blachowicz via a controversial judge’s decision. Then, the fight between Darrius Flowers and Jake Matthews also met with a controversial loss for the former.

Darrius Flowers didn’t handle the loss to Jake Matthews too well. According to him, there were a few problems going into the fight but Flowers had to take the fight because he needed one.

During the fight, Jake Matthews delivered a ‘controversial’ low gut kick to Flowers, following which Flowers crumbled to the ground in pain. UFC commentator Joe Rogan and the other commentators on the panel dubbed the strike as legal, multiple times. Mathews went on to win the fight via submission in the second round itself.
Fans have criticized Joe Rogan for this call that he made all across the internet. Now, even Darrius Flowers has decided to defend himself.

The bad call during the Darrius Flowers vs Jake Matthews match was not the only thing that Rogan did that night, that rubbed the fans the wrong way.

UFC Middleweight fighters Roman Kopylov and Claudio Ribeiro locked horns at UFC 291. By the end of the fight, Kopylov emerged victorious.
In a post-fight conference, Joe Rogan interviewed Roman Kopylov and asked him who he would want to fight next. The fighter thanked the UFC President Dana White for the fight and then proceeded to call out Middleweight fighter Sean Strickland as his ideal next opponent.

Rogan asked him if he plans on moving up to 185 although the fighter was already at 185. This didn’t sit right with the UFC commentator who fumbled this basic statistic about the fighter.
