Is Dana White finally done with Conor McGregor, or is this just another publicity stunt?

Is the UFC planning a rematch between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov? If they are not, then there is no reason for them to revisit that rivalry they way they just did. UFC 229 was a monumental event for the promotion that changed the course of history. Headlined by McGregor and Nurmagomedov, it generated a massive 2.4 million PPV buys. So why are they showing the heat from the night six years later?

During the ground and pound in the fourth round, Khabib Nurmagomedov said to McGregor, “What happened? Let’s talk now. Let’s talk.” It was sp dominant on the Russian’s side that Herb Dean had to come forward to tell McGregor to fight, “Conor you need to fight back, come on.” Well, Dana White and Co. could have shared these videos at any time but this particular timing makes no sense to UFC insider Chael Sonnen.

“We’re told that Conor is coming back, which I don’t know that I believe to be true. But to put out a fight that went against Conor when you don’t have Khabib… if you have one guy under contract, it doesn’t matter who won the fight. It doesn’t matter who the bigger star is. It doesn’t matter who had more of a legacy. These are all separate conversations,” said Chael Sonnen on his YouTube handle.

He further added, “If you’re bringing something to the marketplace, the number one goal that you would have is to shine up the athlete. It isn’t actually to monetize yourself. You have other ways to monetize this piece. That’s not what you did. You released it, and by the way, you put time, thought, and effort into it, and you edited it.”

Down in the conversation, Sonnen emphasized that the unexpected rerelease of the footage had no sense to be on the internet. The former UFC fighter further speculated that the talks between the promotion for a slim but possible rematch are on the cards.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Dana White finally done with Conor McGregor, or is this just another publicity stunt?

Have an interesting take?

It’s either that or someone wanted to take a shot at McGregor – a sign of frustration over fight negotiations or talks over a new contract? Or maybe we are just reading too much into a ‘nothingburger.’ Either way, the fans online were very interested in the motivation behind the release of the audio on his birthday. Well, let’s have a look at what more the promotion leaked.

‘The Eagle’s team ridiculed McGregor after the fight

The video of the fight without commentary spread like wildfire. The entire MMA community, both old and new, witnessed Khabib Nurmagomedo͏v’͏s rough ͏handling͏ of Cono͏r McGregor during and after the fight. ‘The Eagle’s brutal pounding of McGregor at the end of the fourth round induced his cousin Abubakar Nurmagomedov to also shout “Kill him!”

Well, his cousin was not the only person who called out the former dual-weight champion in the midst of the fight. Current lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev encouraged Nurmagomedov that McGregor was on the last line of defeat, “Khabib, he’s dying there on his stool. Look at him, just take a look. He couldn’t walk.”

After clinching the victory, ‘Eagle’ screamed, “B**ch!. I f**ked you up! I f**ked you up, b**ch!” Just after this heated conversation, Nurmagomedov jumped out of his cage to launch himself towards McGregor’s team and what followed is already known to the entire MMA fans.
