Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush have a new date for their potential title eliminator bout. UFC president Dana White announced a series of fights via Instagram Live, along with the new date for the lightweight clash.

Oliveira and Dariush were set to clash in the co-main event of UFC 288 on May 6. The bout between the #1 and #4 ranked lightweights was a major selling point for the card. Therefore, it took a huge blow when Oliveria pulled out. Luckily for the fans, the UFC has now announced a five-round welterweight co-main event between Gilbert Burns and Belal Muhammad.

As for Oliveira vs Dariush, the rescheduled bout will go down in the co-main event on UFC 289 on June 10. The event is set to take place in Vancouver, Canada. It will be headlined by the trilogy fight between UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes and former champion Julianna Pena.

Despite the new date, many fans had doubts about the fight. The news receive mixed reactions as several fans had differing opinions.

Charles Oliveira lost his title to Islam Makhachev in October of last year. The Brazilian has not had a fight since. Many fans believe that Dariush, currently on an 8-fight win streak should have gotten a title shot instead of the Oliveira fight.

Some were skeptical about Oliveria showing up for the fight and expect another cancellation. Meanwhile, some fans are glad that Canada is getting a really good contest between the two top stars.

• Thank god. I rather wait for this fight to happen so I don’t gotta watch Peña and Nunes headline a PPV.
