The wrestling world is not new to fighters with an MMA background. They have been known to make the switch to the squared circle. These fighters boast a unique set of moves and a repertoire of submission maneuvers. Ronda Rousey is the perfect example of that and is among the finest exports from the UFC. She has also paved the way for other MMA fighters who aspire to make a career in wrestling.

Shayna Baszler is a long-time friend of Rousey’s and has taken nearly the same route as her. The Queen of Spades signed for WWE in 2017. She racked up a successful stint in NXT, winning the NXT Women’s Championship twice.

Baszler has failed to make a similar impact in the main roster. Though she won the Women’s Tag Team Championship twice, she is yet to excel in the singles competitions.

Rousey and Baszler had an exciting interchange in the recent episode of SmackDown! Baszler congratulated Rousey for her championship defense against the returning Emma. The two were interrupted by Baszler’s partner, Natalya. However, this did not bode well for Natalya, as Baszler went on to attack her, leaving her biting the dust and walking out with the SmackDown Women’s champion.

This segment did not go well with one fan who took to Twitter to announce his disapproval. The user wrote, “Why choose a side and live in Rhondas shadow when you can just take her crown”.

Baszler was far from impressed and responded, “I dunno what kind of friend YOU are, but I don’t consider the success of my friends a “shadow”.

The two have collaborated previously in the UFC. Rousey picked Baszler to be a part of her team in The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs Team Tate in 2013.

The former UFC fighters have been part of the WWE roster for a few years. However, their interactions have been limited to backstage segments. Baszler even trained with The Baddest Woman on The Planet ahead of her WrestleMania 38 clash against Charlotte Flair.

The WWE has long since teased a reunion for the pair. And it looks like the two are about to be teamed up. This will not be new as the change in the WWE regime has seen the advent of many factions in the promotion.

Rousey and Baszler teaming up could lead to a level of domination rarely seen in the women’s division. Baszler’s response to the fan clearly stated where her allegiances lie. The two are bound to wreak havoc if paired and the fans would be hoping that this long-awaited reunion finally comes to fruition.
