Fedor Emelianenko is one of the greatest Russian MMA fighters of all time. Despite his impressive record and skills, he doesn’t always receive the recognition he deserves. The debate over the greatest of all time (G.O.A.T.) in MMA has been ongoing for years. Moreover, many fans and experts claim that Emelianenko is a strong contender for the GOAT status. However, recent comments from Dana White caused a stir in the MMA community. Additionally, a UFC legend disagreed with White’s stance on the matter.

‘The Last Emperor’ last fought in Bellator MMA’s 290th event, where he faced Ryan Bader. Emelianenko lost in the first round via knockout and then went on to retire. Despite the loss, Emelianenko’s career and achievements in the sport cannot be ignored. He has fought for some of the biggest MMA promotions in the world, including Pride FC and Strikeforce, in addition to his recent fights in Bellator.

While Emelianenko never fought for the UFC, it hasn’t stopped fans from considering him one of the best fighters of all time. Negotiations between Emelianenko and the UFC have fallen through several times, but that hasn’t diminished his reputation in the sport. His skills, dedication, and longevity in the sport make him a legend in the eyes of many fans, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of MMA fighters.

Chael Sonnen’s take on Fedor Emelianenko as the G.O.A.T.

UFC legend Chael Sonnen in a recent video from his YouTube channel talks about the heavyweight. Sonnen is famous for his outspoken opinions and insightful commentary on the sport. In this video, he discusses whether ‘The Last Emperor’ can be regarded as the G.O.A.T.

He said, “Is Theodore the G.O.A.T.? The answer is yes. Of course, it’s yes and Fedor is the G.O.A.T  for the same reasons that Jon Jones is not. The goat isn’t just about how many championships you want, it isn’t just about what your record is.

It wasn’t just about main events or how much money you brought in. Now the mere fact that Fedor has never done anything but main events truly is amazing.” He further added. Sonnen also mentions that Emelianenko’s longevity and continued success in the sport, even in his later years, is truly amazing.

As an example, Sonnen compared Emelianenko to another MMA fighter, Jon Jones. He states that while Jones is in the bracket of one of the greatest fighters in the sport, not everyone considers him the G.O.A.T. According to Sonnen, this is because Jones isn’t everyone’s favorite fighter. Moreover, personal opinions often play a role in determining who is considered the greatest.

Dana White’s take on Emelianenko’s G.O.A.T. Status

In contrast to Chael Sonnen’s views on Fedor Emelianenko as the GOAT, UFC President Dana White doesn’t share the same sentiment. He stated that while some fans and pundits may have worshiped Emelianenko, he was never one of them. White believes that Fedor never got a chance to test himself in the UFC, which would have been the true test of his abilities as a fighter.
