An unexpected loss against the first high-level opponent can be tough to bear. However, Mitchell is not the kind to back down from challenges. However, just three weeks before the fight, Pearce pulled out of it due to an undisclosed injury. Many thought that ‘Thug and Nasty’ would lose his chance to fight at UFC 288. However, the UFC seems to have found a fitting replacement for Pearce.
It is none other than Movsar Evloev, as per MMA Mania. Evloev carries a perfect MMA record of 16 wins and zero losses. The undefeated Russian fighter defeated Dan Ige in his last fight in June 2022. Ranked at #10 in the featherweight rankings, it is safe to say that Evloev is going to be a tough opponent for Mitchell.
