Father Tony Once Gave Hard-to-Believe Insights About His Son Conor McGregor’s Life – “At Home, He Will…”

According to Tony McGregor his son, former UFC 2 division champion Conor McGregor is a completely different individual in his private life. Conor’s father once mentioned after he became the first double-division champion in the UFC, ‘the Notorious’ became one of the standout sports personalities. Although one of the biggest names in combat sports history, at home McGregor is quite a humble individual.

He has surpassed all his fellow UFC fighters in the matter of reach and fan base. McGregor has over 45 million followers on Instagram alone. This is huge, considering that he was relatively unknown and started from a humble beginning by working as a plumber. Even though he hasn’t lived up to expectations recently, his fan base remains as big as ever.

Achieving lifetime glory from such a humble beginning is not easy. This is why when his father Tony McGregor revealed that his persona and dedication were crucial in shaping his career which led to success.

Back in 2016, after his career-defining victory against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, his father sat down for an interview. Talking with British Journalist Jonathan Shrager in New York he revealed how he is behind the curtains.

He said, “At home, he will walk the dogs, cycle around on his Lo-Cal and he likes to put his feet up and just crash out on the sofa in his off time.“

Beneath the brash and arrogant persona is a quiet private person.

Conor has always maintained a close circle of friends

During the interview, he also disclosed how McGregor kept his dream tight to himself like his friends. ‘The Notorious’ would pack his bag along with his friends, and coaches and rock up to the gym. All he had was inside the bag.

The Mystic Mac’ is famous for his ability to deduce fights and predict in which round he will finish off his opponents. Moreover, this proved to be useful while judging people as well. 

He said, “Conor is quick to see people trying to penetrate that inner circle. They don’t get far. He will bring them in, use them if he needs them and then let them go if he doesn’t need them. The core circle is very, very tight.“
