Fans Turn Against Gabriel Bonfim as Brazilian Fails in Front of Home Crowd Against Nicolas Dalby at UFC Sao Paulo

Nicholas Dalby came and conquered. The fighter just faced one of his greatest opponents, Gabriel Bonfim at UFC Sao Paulo. Bonfim has come a great way and is just looking at a potentially long-lasting and powerful UFC career. However, his speed might just get slowed down.

Dalby struggled and powered his way through the first round. It looked like Bonfim was dominant in the very first round. He grappled and wrestled Dalby on the mat, however, the experienced fighter managed to slip from his grip every single time. Here’s how fans reacted.

Dalby looked like he might get the short end of the stick after the very first round. However, Bonfim’s reign was not to last too long. In the second round, Dalby slipped out of a bad grappling situation and stalked the Brazilian around the cage. In fact, after a while, it looked like both the fighters were rather tired out.

However, Dalby was still raring to go at it. He instantly forced Dalby into a defensive position. Strike after strike landed for the fighter as the two struggled against the cage. It was now Dalby setting the pace. He struck him multiple times with his knee and with the final knee, Bonfim went crumbling down, a second or two later with some ground and pound, Dalby had already become the winner.

While some recalled the loss of both brothers, others were still in awe.

Others called the brothers a fraud. Both Gabriel and Ismael are martial artists, however, they have faced tough times.

Yet others wondered if Bonfim was just bad at it all.

This fan accused the UFC of hyping up fighters a bit too much.

And yet again, this fan felt like the Bonfim brothers needed to better their reputation once again.

Clearly, fans have found the upset rather disheartening. Faith in Bonfim has been shattered even though the fighter has been nothing but a phenom in his earlier fights. It goes to show how going up against an experienced fighter can be a whole different story. And the main event was a testament to just that.

What happened during the main event?

During the main event of UFC Sao Paulo, we saw Derrick Lewis go up against Jailton Almeida. Almeida won and was dominant for the entirety of the matchup. Amidst very heartwarming shows of respect inside the cage, Almeida made Lewis struggle.

For the five rounds of it, Lewis was mostly on the mat, making sure he didn’t get knocked out. In rounds like the second and the fifth, he would have an energetic opening with a few strikes landing. However, it would all soon wash out as soon as Almeida managed to put him down on his back. And that’s how he more or less outperformed Lewis.
