Sergei Pavlovich knocked out Curtis Blaydes in the very first round at UFC Fight Night 222. The highly-anticipated heavyweight match had title fight implications in the eyes of many. Following his win, the Russian Pavlovich also made the claim for a title shot soon.

Many expected Pavlovich to have a tough challenge against the wrestling-heavy Blaydes. However, the Russian powerhouse faced little opposition as he steamrolled ‘Razor’ Blaydes.

“Where’s my belt?”– asked Sergei Pavlovich after the win. Unfortunately, the 30-year-old will likely have to wait for the winner of Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic. He may not be receiving any favors from the UFC to skip the line despite weighing in as a backup for UFC 285.

As of now, the UFC is yet to have a date for Jones vs. Miocic however, all parties involved have more or less confirmed that it is the fight they want next. The most recent updates from Dana White revealed that the heavyweight showdown could happen in MSG.

Meanwhile, fans were in awe of yet another Sergei Pavlovich knockout and started contemplating his fight against Jon Jones.

As Jon Jones entered the heavyweight division, many deemed Blaydes had the credentials to match his wrestling game. However, Pavlovich has changed the narrative with his stunning knockout win. By finishing Blaydes, the Russian has the fans wondering if he brings something more than what Jones can handle.

Many fans had a similar reaction after the fight. One fan implied Jones would retire after fighting Stipe Miocic.

Another suggested that Jones should return to the light heavyweight division.

One fan simply wanted to witness all the carnage and called for Jones vs. Pavlovich.

Another fan compared Pavlovich to an improved version of the heavyweight icon Brock Lesnar.

One fan called for Pavlovich to fight for the title next instead of Miocic. His reasons- Miocic is much older and lost his last fight against Francis Ngannou.

However, there was one fan who thought Jones would not have much trouble with Pavlovich. While he admitted Pavlovich was scary, the fan believed the consensus GOAT would handle the problem well.
