Claiming himself as one of the biggest draws in the UFC, Paddy Pimblett found himself in trouble ahead of his UFC 282 fight. While the Brit awaited his bout against Jared Gordon on 10 December 2022 in T-Mobile Arena, he was the center of controversy for a contentious tweet that he made last year. Notably, the remarks of the Liverpool-born fighter against another fighter on the fight card, Ilia Topuria, enabled the fans to dig deep into the lightweight fighter’s history. Therefore, attracting the fans’ flak once again.

Pimblett, 27, made a questionable tweet in April 2021 that attracted the attention of former UFC fighter Liana Jojua. Significantly, the Georgian fighter declared feeling ashamed that the Liverpudlian represented MMA.

How did the fans react to Paddy Pimblett’s old deleted tweet?

While some fans pointed out the ‘real’ nature of the Brit, other fans criticized the Next Generation MMA team representative for his insensitive comments.

One user commented, “That’s the real paddy . Not that mental health bs he was spewing after his last fight”

Someone wrote, “Daft foul-mouthed Scouse.”

An MMA fan announced, “He’s actually pretty scummy, said some racist sh*t over the years. It’s fine though, he’ll get humbled soon; 155 is a shark tank.”

Another user pointed out, “Damn he went from a fighter almost everyone loved and now everyone hates him and wants him to get swallowed in the division, in a matter of days 😂”

Another comment read as “Well sh*t, he’s not called Paddy the goody”

A user drew a parallel with Conor McGregor and thus  stated, “As i said before, he copies Mcgregor’s twitter personality but without the financial backup. If he loses a fight he’ll be easily forgotten, and i think he will”

Another fan said, “Good thing its not the ultimate being a good person championships”

Lastly, a user replied, “Oi… What the holy moly guacamole is goin on… He switched righto into some villain company man. Compared to his mental health message during postfight interview in London… I hope he say shit like that next to Jan or Georgian peeps like Guram… gg”

Markedly, Pimblett, at 19-3, is currently on a 5-win streak that stretched back to 2018.

The former Cage Warriors featherweight champion made his UFC debut with a win against Luigi Vendramini in Sept. 2021. Subsequently, he faced Rodrigo Vargas on his home soil, and riding on the confidence of people’s support, he scored a submission win.

In his last Octagon appearance, Pimblett made his opponent Jordan Leavitt tap out in the second round. Thus, claiming a Performance of the Night bonus in all of his UFC appearances.
