Nick Diaz returned to fighting last year after over a five-year-long hiatus. He clashed against his old rival, Robbie Lawler, in a rematch that took 17 years in the making. The epic non-title fight took place at UFC 266 in September 2021.

The fight created a lot of hype among the fans. However, Diaz couldn’t deliver what he was expected to. He lost the bout via T/KO in the third round. Hence, many believed Diaz might retire after this fight, as he only looked like a shadow of his prime.

However, recently the head coach of Cesar Gracie BJJ and the coach of Nick Diaz, Cesar Gracie shared a post on his official Instagram account hinting at Diaz’s return.

He posted an old picture of the Stockton native and wrote, “Look for @nickdiaz209 to fight by the end of the year,” in the caption.

Although some might be happy to see the fan-favorite back in action, many were displeased by the news. Probably because of his last performance in the rematch.

UFC fans brutally honest about comeback news of Nick Diaz

The Stockton native Nick Diaz is currently on a three-fight skid. Moreover, despite his age, he made a comeback last but suffered a devastating knockout loss. Hence, the idea of his next fight didn’t please many UFC fans, and they shared their thoughts on Twitter.

“Another UFC fighter who continues to live off his hype as opposed to his very very average record as a fighter in the UFC….. cmon dude hasn’t won a UFC fight in 11 freaking years….he’s 7-7 in the ufc…..” One fan wrote in the comments.

Another user talked about his last loss and wrote, “After giving up in his last fight…why would anyone put him in the cage again?? For his own safety he can’t get back in there…”

“Who really wants to see Nick Diaz return to the octagon? Man last won a fight 10 years ago, and he recently got knocked out (TKO) by Lawler who was 0-4 prior the fight. Dude couldn’t even make weight for the original scheduled weight class,” another user wrote.

One fan lauded Anderson Silva, while taking a jibe at Diaz. He wrote, “Fighting is a young man’s game. Nick was awful in his last fight and needs to retire. The only exception is Anderson Silva who came from great heights and has a low damage technique.”
