The picture is a throwback to the Irishman’s cut to 145 lbs. Since ‘The Notorious’ wanted to fight in the Featherweight division, he made this cut. The ex-UFC champion then proceeded to fight Jose Aldo in UFC 194, where he successfully captured the UFC title via his popular 13-second knockout provided to Aldo. Fans were stunned back then by his performance, and now they are stunned by the weight cut.

Some fighters are known widely for their weight-cut techniques. In this, they would stop consuming water or any liquid substance a few days before the weigh-ins. This would help them shrink down to a lighter weight category, giving them an edge in the real fight for being comparatively bigger than the opponent.
This method is not considered cheating by the UFC and hence gives room for a lot of unfair matches. Even some fighters and UFC associates like the commentator Joe Rogan have condemned the issue.
