UFC CEO, Dana White successfully managed to change the UFC into the most well-oiled (no pun intended) and refined MMA promotions in the world. However, there were moments when the promotion did manage to make errors in some of the fights they put up. And a classic example would be the fight between ex-UFC fighters, Tim Kennedy and Yoel Romero.

The Tim Kennedy vs. Yoel Romero fight at UFC 178 was indeed one of the most controversial fights in the UFC to date. For fans who have been following the sport for a long time, the fight still manages to get on the nerves of fight fans, because of Yoel Romero’s infamous “Stool Gate” which played a big part in him winning the fight. A resurfaced video of Tim Kennedy talking about the fight managed to enrage fight fans across the world.

During a podcast episode of Shawn Ryan, ex-UFC fighter, Tim Kennedy explained his decision to leave the UFC. He recalled the fight at UFC 178 between him and Romero, giving an insight into what actually happened during the fight between the two.

For those unaware, Tim Kennedy almost knocked out Yoel Romero at the end of the second round, with the Cuban being saved by the bell. However, Romero would end up taking an extra 40 seconds on the stool to what had looked like he was trying to recover. This would lead to Romero getting a KO over Kennedy early in the 3rd round. This left fight fans displeased with the promotion and Dana White for allowing the fight to continue without Romero getting the DQ loss.

Here is what fans wrote in the comments section of the clip of the podcast episode;

Some fans showed their annoyance with the UFC CEO for letting the fight proceed the way it did; “I can’t believe Dana would let that go.”, “They did cheat the game. Dana shouldn’t have allowed this.”

While one fan claimed that the Cuban should’ve been disqualified for his actions; “Should have been disqualified. Theres no excuse for this.”

Others believed that Kennedy was robbed in that fight; “Tim absolutely beat Yoel that night but got jacked.”, “The worst fight in ufc history. Absolute robbery”

One fan explained the impact that the 40s has on the fight; “For those wondering, at this level, the 40s would impact him like it would be an 8 hour of sleep time recovery.”

While one blamed there of the fight, John McCarthy for what had happened during the debacle; “This was one of John Mccarthy’s biggest mistakes”

A majority of fans seem to believe that the fight should’ve been a DQ loss for Yoel Romero and blame Dana White and the authorities for letting the fight continue. Unfortunately for the UFC CEO, Dana White seems to be facing more criticism for a comment he made during a recent Podcast appearance.
