Khabib Nurmagomedov was one of the most dominant fighters in UFC history and probably the most dominant in the UFC lightweight division. Nurmagomedov has made a personal decision to retire, and since then, he hasn’t stepped inside the Octagon as a fighter. There is no doubt that promotions from all over the world want to sign the dominant lightweight and make him come out for retirement.

But Khabib Nurmagomedov, being who he is, declined all offers and stayed true to his word about retiring. Nurmagomedov disclosed that he was offered up to 40 million dollars, but he rejected it, saying “But for myself, it’s not everything”. Nurmagomedov claimed in the interview that he has no regrets about declining the offers. However, fans are quite skeptical of his claims.

It’s not shocking to hear that the UFC is willing to pay a large sum of money for him to come out of retirement. Dagestan’s Eagle was one of the hottest commodities when he left and is still talked about to this day by MMA fans across the world. So the UFC offering him $40 million isn’t really that surprising. However, knowing the UFC, the substantial amount would have probably meant a multiple-fight contract.

Also, it is most probable that the undefeated lightweight received offers from different organizations. Maybe even better offers, like the one Francis Ngannou received. But his decision to retire seemed final, and he doesn’t seem to be budging from that decision anytime soon. Then again, 40 million dollars is a large sum of money, even for someone like Nurmagomedov. And fans are having a tough time believing it.
