Anthony Smith has been going off on Alex Pereira for quite some time now. He called the Brazilian a one-dimensional mediocre fighter. Undoubtedly, that didn’t sit well with the fight fans. Unfortunately, Smith’s troubles had just begun. Smith recently made another comment that garnered a boatload of lashback from the fighting community. 

The story began during the main card events at UFC 301, as fans witnessed Smith submit Vitor Petrino with an impressive guillotine choke within the first couple of minutes. But the concerns began when the ‘Poatan’ acted as if he was sleeping during Smith’s introduction. 

‘Lionheart’ recently had a talk with Michael Bisping, wherein he pointed out that the double champion’s sleeping stunt. Soon, Smith awkwardly shifted the conversation to the Brazilian’s clothing, when ‘The Count’ commented on how Smith put Pereira to sleep. “What was he wearing? It was like a vest. Like, with no shirt underneath of it. I was like ‘alright’”, said the Texas-born fighter. 

Soon, the footage of the conversation between Smith and Bisping found its way to Instagram as an account named ‘xcellentmma’ posted it on the social media platform. Without a doubt, the mixed martial arts world entered the comments section to defend the UFC double champion.

Fans take a stand against Anthony Smith after he makes fun of Alex Pereira

As soon as the video entered Instagram, the fighting community took to the comments section and bashed the American fighter for talking badly about Pereira’s clothes. One of the fans wrote, “This is why no one likes Smith.” Meanwhile, another fan pointed out that ‘Lionheart’ needed to be grateful to Pereira for the attention. “Smith needs to be thankful he’s getting this much attention because of Alex”, the comment read.

The fight fans were absolutely unhappy with Smith disrespecting the champ’s clothing style. One fan commented, “What was he wearing ? The disrespect that he just showed to indigenous people.” Nevertheless, some of the fans seemed to believe that the vest without a shirt looked on Pereira. “Poatan rocks that vest with no shirt…”

One of the fans referenced the grappling challenge that Pereira extended towards Smith. “Anthony wins a grappling match Poaton wins an mma fight lmao”, the fan wrote. Another fan compared the championship belts that the two fighters had. “At least he’s a two division champ. Can’t say the same about u.” Finally, one account mocked Smith for acting like he was close to fighting for the championship belt. “Anthony acting like he’s close to a title shot after that pathetic win lol.”
