Fans Are All Saying the Same Thing About Dana White’s Role as Magomed Ankalaev Breaks UFC Records in Belt-Wrapping Moment

It was a grim moment for many at the end of UFC 313 as Alex Pereira’s light heavyweight reign came to a halt. The chants of ‘Chama’ roaring inside the stadium became a memory and left a barrage of questions and answers on many fans and veterans alike. The light heavyweight throne has a new companion —Magomed Ankalaev, and yet the dethroned champion’s essence could not be forgotten, and the shock of the loss was hard to hide for many, including Dana White.

Nonetheless, the show must go on. Even after the scores of 49-46,48-47,49-47, which bewildered everyone, the boss had to crown the new winner. However, the UFC head honcho’s expressions said it all and he was less than pleased to give Ankalaev the belt. Fans were focused on seeing the unenthused response of White upon learning that Ankalaev won via unanimous decision. Maybe after 3 title defenses by ‘Poatan’ the boss was used to giving the belt back to the Brazilian all the time. This sudden change was unwelcome by the UFC head honcho and he reluctantly went to wrap the belt without saying a single word to Ankalaev. Now it has been reported by ESPN MMA that, “Magomed Ankalaev has the most viewed belt wrapping video on Dana White’s Instagram in 2025.”

Surprisingly this is not the first time the UFC bossman has given such a reaction. Remember UFC 304 when Belal Muhammad dethroned Leon Edwards? White was pretty sullen while giving ‘Remember the Name’ the belt. Even fans spoke about the same on Reddit and other social media platforms. One follower named The Bishop Deeds had posted on Reddit, “Dana really didn’t want Belal to be champ. He looked mad as he walked up behind him …” However, the boss explained that he was just tired because the event took place overnight in Manchester, England.

Yet, White’s recent reaction raised the collective eyebrows of MMA and UFC fans on X and other social media pages. They flocked to see this video and commented on the same.

MMA fans made the video viral since Pereira’s loss was a huge setback for everyone and the fans wanted to see how White reacted. One follower stated the reason for the boss’s sullen face, “Because Dana’s face he was pissed,” while another said, “Mainly because Dana was pissed off and crying inside.”

Another follower gave the reason why the video went viral and said, “Ha ha I would imagine it’s because everyone wanted to see Dana’s face when he found out Alex lost. Lol not because Ankalaev won. Lol.” Another netizen tried to decipher what might be going on in White’s head. They wrote, “Dana: “All right I’m gonna push this guy now.” Another fan kept their comment as an open ending saying, “We all know why,” while another said, “Thanks to Alex.” Even Brendan Schaub had pointed out in his podcast how Pereira’s loss was a ‘nightmare’ for UFC.   

Taking to his talk show, the former Ring of Fire champion voiced, “It’s a nightmare for the UFC that he won. A nightmare. Look at Dana’s face. You can tell by his face he’s looking at Bruce Buffer, he just goes ‘F—!’ It’s a nightmare that Ankalaev’s champ!”  Echoing the same sentiment, another follower said, “Cause Dana’s mad af.”

Even though the UFC 313 aftermath was heartbreaking, Pereira is not in disgruntled spirits and said that he was ready for a rematch. Will Dana White consider it as he said during the post fight presser?
