Controversy and Nick Diaz are synonyms in the MMA landscape. The Stockton native has built a controversial reputation in the UFC, from past suspensions to ongoing antics outside the octagon. The welterweight legend is slated to make his comeback against Vicente Luque at UFC 310. Yet, reclaiming the fans’ support might prove tougher than his actual matchup, given recent allegations surrounding his behavior. Fans are frustrated over claims that Diaz has been delivering low-effort, “blank” video messages on Cameo, the platform where fans pay for personalized celebrity shoutouts.
One fan, posting under the username @FullContactMTWF on X, shared receipts of Diaz’s allegedly disappointing videos. Two disgruntled customers shared their experiences, expressing their anger over the quality of the videos they received. One comment read, “Are you kidding me?? A 3-second video of a black screen with mumbling in the background? Get off the dr**s, Nick; kids look up to you. What a disgrace. This was for a 14-year-old’s birthday — he idolizes you, and this is what you send? Absolute rip-off.”

Another fan went even further, calling Diaz a “scammer” who took money but didn’t deliver the promised experience. They wrote, “SCAM! Nick Diaz sent a 3-second black video with static noise. WHAT A LOSER. Don’t go on Cameo if you’re just going to take people’s money. I tried to do something nice for a loved one, but I was ripped off by this weirdo.”
As Diaz prepares for his highly anticipated return to the UFC, these allegations add another layer of controversy that could impact his relationship with fans. Whether or not he’ll address the complaints remains to be seen. But this isn’t the first time that Diaz has found himself embroiled in a controversy.

Nick Diaz: The “undisputed” king of controversies
Nick Diaz has never shied away from stirring up controversy in the UFC. His fight with Anderson Silva at UFC 183 in 2015 was memorable, not just for the action in the octagon but for the post-fight fallout. Initially, Silva won via unanimous decision, but the bout was later declared a no-contest. The reason? Diaz failed his drug test due to mari***na in his system, leading to accusations that he had entered the fight under the influence. The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) responded with a harsh penalty: a five-year suspension and a hefty $165,000 fine, amounting to 33% of his fight earnings.
Diaz didn’t hold back in voicing his frustration with the decision. Speaking to Heidi Fang of Fox Sports, he said, “I wanted to just get up and tell them, ‘Look, you guys are way out of line. You’ve been trying to hold me down from day one. This whole sport has been trying to keep me from where I belong — the number one position.” After appealing the suspension, Diaz saw it reduced to 18 months and the fine lowered to $100,000, but his resentment toward the NSAC was clear.

Adding to his legacy of wild claims, Diaz also alleged that he was “poisoned” before his 2013 title fight against Georges St-Pierre. He claimed that his usual pre-fight routine involved no more than five to six hours of sleep, yet he supposedly slept 14 hours straight before facing GSP, leading him to believe something had tampered with his performance.
These incidents have cemented Diaz’s reputation as one of the UFC’s most unpredictable fighters, and his recent behavior on Cameo hasn’t helped. What is your take on Diaz and his latest shenanigans? Tell us in the comment section below!
