Randy Couture: UFC legend, actor, and entrepreneur—what's your favorite non-fighting achievement of his?

Randy ‘The Natural’ Couture isn’t just a legend in the UFC—he’s practically one of the building blocks that helped the sport reach its incredible heights. With his background in collegiate and Greco-Roman wrestling, Couture showed the world just how effective clinch fighting and ‘dirty boxing’ could be in mixed martial arts. During his peak, he destroyed some of the biggest names in the game like Mark Coleman, Gabriel Gonzaga, Vitor Belfort, and Chuck Liddell.

While many fighters see a drop in their performances when they reach 40, Couture defied the odds when he won the heavyweight title from Tim Sylvia at the age of 43!  But his MMA accolades aside, fans have also been curious about a video of Randy Couture donning the hat of a ‘divorce attorney’. But is the video real or something else entirely?

In the video that has caused such a frenzy, Randy Couture, the MMA legend, is seen humorously using fight metaphors to promote his services as a divorce lawyer. Fans have been left in disbelief by Couture’s performance. But here’s the twist—it’s all just a spoof! It was filmed as a part of ‘The World MMA Awards’ in 2010.

The awards, created by ‘Fighters Only’ magazine in 2008, let fans vote for their favorites in categories like Fighter of the Year, Knockout of the Year, and much more. Randy Couture was the host of the program and the UFC managed to bag the ‘Best Promotion’ award. What about boss Dana White? He walked away as the winner of the ‘Leading Man of the Year’ trophy, beating out names like Joe Silva, Scott Coker, and Michael Schiavello.

What does Couture do now?

Back in the ’80s, Randy Couture served in the US Army, specifically in the 101st Airborne, from 1982 to 1988, and even rose to the rank of Sergeant. That’s where things got interesting. Couture initially wanted to try out for the freestyle wrestling team, but a mix-up sent him to the Greco-Roman tryouts instead! Talk about fate taking the reins.

During a visit to Fort Benning (now called Fort Moore) in 2014, Couture revealed that it was his time in the Army that gave him the skills he needed to succeed in the world of fighting. ‘The Natural’ shared that, “It was a pretty formative time in my life, and I think I developed a particular discipline and mindset while wearing Army green. It was there that I learned I could compete at an international level and really developed the mindset and the confidence to go out and win.”
