“That’s f*****g illegal!!”, is perhaps one of the most viral moments of the UFC head honcho. While a divisive figure among fight fans, Dana White is adored by a big chunk of the MMA community owing to his inimitable sense of humor. The clearest examples of this are the various memes that surround him and how he deals with them. The most infamous ones in recent times are the ‘oil up Dana White’ memes. Fans need not go beyond any post on social media, any video on YouTube discussing the UFC CEO, or hop on to one of his live sessions to see fans talking about oiling up Dana White or wanting to see him oil himself up. But where does this meme come from? Let’s find out from the horse’s own mouth.
“So one day, I’m on live, you know, telling people about something and I read one of the comments that says ‘Dana I want to oil you up.’ And I was like ‘What the f**k does that even mean – I want to oil you up?’ And then boom! Everybody went crazy, it turned into this whole thing. I still don’t even know what the f**k that means. And I don’t think I want to know,” White told YouTuber Noah Kara in an interview.

Another viral meme making the rounds is about Dana White is his ‘glazing’ of Jon Jones. But some fans have combined both of these memes and are talking about Dana White ‘oiling up’ Jon Jones. Of course, it is not hard to understand what the ‘oil up Dana White’ meme means, but the UFC CEO has wisely chosen to remain ignorant.
After all, he doesn’t need the image of him oiling up the heavyweight champion from head to toe, or even him ‘glazing’ Jones. Who would? But White, at the very least, has a sense of humor about it and doesn’t mind the ribbing as he also spoke about why he ‘glazes’ Jon Jones.

Why is Dana White jokingly accused of ‘glazing’ Jon Jones?
Now, White has long been accused of being partial to Jon Jones, who is admittedly his biggest asset currently in the UFC. From changing venues across cities because a certain athletic commission wouldn’t sanction Jones to fight due to PED accusations, to going to war with the media regarding determining P4P rankings; it’s pretty evident that White has stuck his neck out for Jones numerous times.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Dana White's 'glazing' of Jon Jones justified, or is it just blatant favoritism?
Have an interesting take?
White, of course, has been on a crusade recently, declaring that Jones is not only the GOAT but also the pound-for-pound #1 fighter in the UFC. Despite ‘Bones’ having fought only twice in the past four years, both fighters he fought were nowhere near the P4P rankings. The fact that the likes of Islam Makhachev, Alex Pereira, and Ilia Topuria have fought more often and against much better opponents (both criteria for determining the P4P rankings) over the same period, has not caused White to budge from his position.

White’s seemingly exaggerated assessment of Jones in the P4P rankings and continuous profuse praise have led fans to unanimously declare that he ‘glazes’ Jon Jones. But the UFC CEO doesn’t mind. In fact, he leans into it, perhaps to irk the same fans, as he did in the interview with Noah Kara.
“The whole Jon Jones thing, listen Jon Jones is the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world and he’s the greatest to ever do it,”, Dana White told Kara, continuing his ‘glazing’ of Jon Jones. Which Dana White-related meme is your personal favorite? Let us know in the comments section below.
