Virna Jandiroba had to overcome more than just Amanda Lemos at UFC on ESPN 60. In the main event on Saturday night, ‘Carcara’ locked in a vicious armbar late in the second round to submit the Brazilian. With the win, Jandiroba extended her winning run to 4 in a row, and her overall record in the promotion to 7-3. However, some of the focus before the fight was not on the strawweight contender, but her characteristic facial features, especially her eyes.

Jandiroba has an eye condition that makes her pupils a little more spread out than normal eyes. She has also battled with anxiety and started Kung Fu and transitioned to Judo. The 36-year-old pursued Jiu-Jitsu because of her anxiety and stated the same in an interview with MMA Hour. Jandiroba said, “I started training jiu-jitsu because I had an anxiety issue when I was a teenager, so I’ve been doing therapy ever since.”

She had panic attacks after her sister passed away because of stomach cancer at 21. The UFC fighter also reportedly was diagnosed with Hypochondria but then found solace in combat sports. Further in the interview, Jandiroba confessed, “I had panic attacks after my sister died, and jiu-jitsu helped me overcome that. I was afraid to get out of home, and it was traveling to jiu-jitsu tournaments that I started feeling safer.”

UFC featherweight fighter Nathaniel Wood once admitted that he had to overcome his anxiety to become the biggest star. Similarly, Virna Jandiroba faced a hard path toward the Octagon and had to face a lot of strife. The two Brazilian contenders met in Los Angeles before the main event of the Fight Night for the official weigh-ins. The X post on the same read, “Tomorrow night’s main event is locked in. @VirnaJandiroba makes it official coming in at 115.5 pounds!”

Jandiroba, who has a record of 20-3, has been in the UFC from 2019. She currently has a three-fight winning streak and has won against the likes of Marina Rodriguez and Angela Hill. She has faced all forms of adversity and shines brightly now. However, people still pulled her leg in the comments despite all her achievements.

The 36-year-old, however, is acing at her career. That seems to have irked some social media users as they took to the comment section to troll the fighter.

Virna Jandiroba is set to fight against Lemos and qualified for the weigh-ins as well. She stated in an interview with UFC.com about her plans saying, “With this win, I will be coming off four wins over extremely talented and high-ranking women. With this win, I should be ranked No. 3 in the division and I will, for sure, be a worthy challenge for Zhang Weili.”

Though the fighter looked good on the weighing scale, a handful of UFC viewers were not impressed. One fan commented, “DK how she is fighting with their eyes looking in different directions,” while another said, “Gonna have to pass this time.” The fighter’s pupils are a bit farther apart, but she has good eyesight. However, they still catch people’s attention. Another follower commented on her eyes saying, “What are you seeing?” while another fan was excited for the fight and wrote, “It’s going down tomorrow.”

Another follower commented, “Eyes on the prize.” One fan stated, “Just a hunch, but… jabs up the middle could work.” One netizen talked about her eyes again, but this time it was about their intensity. They said, “I feel like she’s looking into my soul and my wife’s soul who is in the kitchen 25 feet away. Scary.”
