It’s already been more than a year since Conor McGregor showed his wild presence in the octagon. The most renowned MMA superstar’s comeback is highly anticipated by all of his fans and opponents. His return has been the subject of much discussion, and several MMA celebrities have voiced their opinions on the matter. Recently, many people have become interested in what famous comedian and former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub has to say. Conor McGregor will enter the octagon this year, according to Schaub. However, he claimed that he had to make some changes to his approach.

The comeback of Conor McGregor

Schaub argues that the notorious should be prepared to face Tony Ferguson and Michael Chandler. Conor McGregor should fight one of these two lightweight competitors right now, given the long hiatus he just took. Although the Irishman’s ability to compete against the odds is great, focusing on the belt is a bit excessive.

The former UFC fighter also argues that Conor cannot simply show up and expect the best UFC fighters to be his opponents. He says, “I think he does, and I think he gets a Chandler or Tony Ferguson fight. He needs to humble himself a little bit, he can’t go straight for, like, a Makhachev; that ain’t ever happening.”

The basis for this statement may be McGregor’s prior fights, as he had only one victory in five years. Schaub is also doubtful about Conor coming back to the lightweight division again due to his tremendous girth, forcing him to switch to welterweight.

In Brendan’s words “he is not making 155 lbs.  So it’s going to have to be like a Chandler or Tony Ferguson at 170. He can’t fight the tip of the spear right now. You can’t take all this time off and then jump in and fight the kings. It doesn’t work like that.

The past fights of McGregor

McGregor had a rematch against former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier scheduled for January 24, 2021, at UFC 257 despite rumors of his retirement. He suffered his first knockout loss in a professional bout in the second round after being defeated by a technical knockout.

Following the knockout, McGregor was subject to a six-month medical suspension. At UFC 264 on July 10, 2021, McGregor squared off against Dustin Poirier for the third time. McGregor was eliminated through a technical knockout in the first round when the ringside doctor called time on the contest. McGregor’s broken tibia prevented him from continuing to participate.

Unquestionably, Conor McGregor is the UFC’s most well-known fighter. Millions of people are eager to see him return to the octagon. The Irishman is also anticipating making a stronger-than-ever comeback. The only option left for his supporters is to wait and see who his new opponent will be.
