A lot of rumors surrounded the comeback of Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion. There was a lot of uncertainty regarding his return. However, the outcome is now clear The UFC was unwilling to agree to the majority of Ngannou’s demands. “The Predator” is now a free agent and is free to choose his own future in combat sports. The famous MMA promotion made their choice clear by pitting Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane in the heavyweight bout for UFC 285. However, when the final decision was out, most of the UFC fighters expressed their opinions on the same. At last, it’s the former UFC fighter, Ben Rothwell, who talks about Ngannou calling it quits.
Ben Rothwell opens up on how everybody gets treated differently in the UFC
Ben Rothwell was talking to ‘MMA Junkie’ when asked about Ngannou’s post-UFC success. Rothwell detailed the business strategies of the UFC and how Ngannou is a victim. He said, “Make millions upon millions of dollars. You’re going to get all this stuff; everything’s done. I did it, and it’s not how it is. Maybe for Conor, Conor McGregor makes a special deal at a special contract, but I’m pretty sure the UFC after what they went through with him are never gonna let that happen again.”

He further stated that things are not the same for everyone. According to him, the UFC decides how much a fighter should earn and expand. If you try to break yourself from the clutches of the organization, you are seen as an outcast and have to face a lot of consequences.
During the conversation, Rothwell remembered the words of his great friend Robbie Lawler. Rothwell further described how Lawler, after becoming a welterweight champion, talked to him about the realities of being a fighter in the promotion. After climbing all the necessary steps, they finally get to know that the fighters won’t be valued by the organization as they expected.

He added, “Yeah, so Robbie, I know as well as you that I like him as a champion… he said, ‘I’m a happy man. I’m living life.’ But he basically told me, ‘It wasn’t the pot of gold at the end or the rainbow that we all believed and dreamed that it was.'”
The future of Ngannou
During the interview, Rothwell openly criticized the methods of the UFC. According to him, the organization showcases that they are the greatest of all with the best fighters in the world. He also agrees that the UFC would now try to degrade Ngannou as a scared and escaped fighter. According to the heavyweight, it’s only a few who actually know the truth.
