In her recent interview with Irish Mirror, the #1 pound-for-pound Bellator female fighter revealed that while she is open to fighting with the Irish champion, Cyborg also revealed that Conor McGregor won’t be a “good fit” on the same fight card.

However, the Bellator champion’s comments didn’t sit well with a section of MMA fans. Therefore, she found herself in troubled water with her comments.

What did Cris Cyborg say in her defense?

Along with a link to her Irish Mirror interview, Cyborg also posted some of Conor McGregor’s disappointing photos from his career. All the photo share a common theme- McGregor either taking a blow to his face or tapping out.

In reply to the same post, a user commented, “But still needing to name drop him to gather more attention.. WEAK 🙄”

Following this comment, the Chute Boxe representative hit back at the scathing comment. Hence, she wrote, “you realize it was an Irish interview that asked about him?”

While being the only grand slam champion in MMA history, Cris Cyborg has made her available for boxing duties. After her deal with Bellator has expired recently, she is currently a free agent. Thus, it has made Cyborg a lucrative option as Katie Taylor’s next opponent.

Cris Cyborg’s earlier comments about Conor McGregor

The 26-2 record holder is an impressive striker as her 17 wins came via knockouts. The murmurs of her switching to boxing gloves to face Katie Taylor were long-mooted.

In her interview, Cyborg declared her intention to face Katie Taylor in Ireland. Further, she said, “…But I don’t think putting Conor McGregor on the same event would be the best way to promote the fight.”

Also, Cyborg also pointed out that Mystic Mac had fought once in 6 years, and given his outside-the-ring controversies, McGregor was not a “good fit for an event looking to empower the next generation of women entering combat sports.”

Notably, Katie Taylor successfully defended her undisputed lightweight boxing title against Karen Elizabeth Carabajal in a comfortable unanimous decision victory at Wembley Arena on Oct. 29.
