UFC welterweight Neil Magny is set for his third main event showing against another top-ranked 170-pounder, Michael Chiesa. ‘The Haitian Sensation’ headlines UFC Fight Island 8 on Jan 20, 2021, in a critical match-up for the division. ‘The Haitian Sensation’ holds one of the most coveted UFC records on his resume from the modern era of the company. Magny is one of only three fighters who has accrued five victories in a calendar year. This feat came through by only Roger Huerta and most recently by Kevin Holland in 2020.

Magny’s streak came back in 2014 when he defeated Gasan Umalatov, Tim Means, Rodrigo Goiana de Lima, Alex Garcia, and William Macario. He managed to finish two of his five wins via KO/TKO.

A successful Ultimate Fighter stint

Neil Magny also appeared on ‘The Ultimate Fighter 16’ where he managed to reach the finals of the show. He made it onto Team Carwin in a faceoff against Team Nelson by beating Frank Camacho by unanimous decision. Magny would pick up two more unanimous decision wins before falling in the finale.

He was TKOed in the first round of his contest against Mike Ricci in the show’s 12 episode. Moreover, he had shown enough to make his debut at UFC 157 against a castmate from the show. His run at TUF solidified his ability to hang with the scrappy up and comers of the welterweight division. He has since shown plenty of growth and evolution to his game, and it’s brought him to a lofty standing.
