‘The Eagle’ retired as the longest-reigning UFC lightweight champion in 2021. However, he also contributed to the history of the sport from the sidelines. After he assumed the role of a trainer and coach to their clan featuring established stars like Belal Muhammad and Islam Makhachev. Along with his cousin and upcoming UFC bantamweight prodigy, Umar Nurmagomedov.
Makhachev brought glory to the Dagestani clan after he brought the lightweight championship belt back to Dagestan after Khabib. However, the only undefeated UFC champion in history maintains a tight bond with his family members. Because nothing comes over family!

But one could never explain the curious case of the Russian fighter’s better half and the restrictions imposed on her.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s distant relative, childhood friend, and wife
The former lightweight champion is married to Patimat Nurmagomedov. The two shared the same surname, even before marriage. However, the fact that they were both born in Sildi, Dagestan around the same year explains a lot about their relationship. Because they started off as distant relatives and childhood friends, who grew up together. Later, when they came of age, Abdulmanap chose Patimat as the perfect alliance to wed his son.
Khabib married his childhood friend, Patimat in June 2013 in Kirovaul, Kizilyurtovsky, Dagestan, Russia. He already became a professional UFC fighter by then and defeated the likes of Gleison Tibau and Kamal Shalorus as his first lightweight opponents. So, Dagestanis marched in thousands to attend Nurmagomedov’s spectacular wedding feast. However, as the customs dictate in Islamic traditions, the bride, Patimat was covered in a veil.
Due to this tradition, Patimat manages to avoid public appearances without the veil. And nobody has ever taken or posted pictures of Patimat Nurmagomedov. Whereas the outside world has objected to this treatment, Khabib’s strict adherence to the Islamic religion never falters.
The Russian has set an example across the world for his dedication to his religion. However, the former Combat Sambo World champion has introduced another crucial figure to the world, who’s often mistaken for a family member.

The internet fell in love with the charming Hasbulla Magomedov, who’s popularly mistaken by fans to be a member of Khabib’s family. Some even assume that Hasbulla is the former lightweight champion’s son due to their pictures together. However, it is false as Hasbulla is just one of Nurmagomedov’s friends, who just hung around with him to support the fighter.
But ‘mini khabib’ rose to fame ahead of the hugely anticipated match between his friend and UFC dual-champion Conor McGregor at UFC 229, 2018. The whole build-up to the Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor face-off was epic. However, Hasbulla’s fight against Abdu Rozik really sent MMA fans to splits. Back then, Hasbulla rose to fame after he initiated a rivalry with Rozik, similar to professional MMA fighters, which can be seen in a video posted by Azwar Vidio. However, Hasbulla’s intention from that fight was to remind everyone that we can all be together. He united the UFC fans with his own brand of humor.
