Pereira had his two sons with his ex-wife, whose identity remains unknown to this day. Both of Alex Pereira’s sons look like they are in the early years of their adolescence. As per certain reports, the name of his son who mocked Israel Adesanya when he fought the former 2-time UFC champion in Glory is Alessandro Vidal Silva, and another report claimed his other son to be Lohan Vidal Pereira. But, looking at the private personality Pereira is, nothing more could be found about them. Well, now that we know about the boys, do you know that they have a beef with Israel Adesanya?
What happened between Alex Pereira’s kids and Israel Adesanya?
Well, it’s quite evident that no son would ever want to witness the scene of his father getting knocked out. But, Israel Adesanya made Pereira’s sons witness his defeat at UFC 281. Just when most in the combat sports community started to believe that Adesanya could never get the better of Pereira. The Nigerian-born New Zealander struck gold at UFC 287.
In their rematch for the UFC Middleweight Championship, Adesanya baited Pereira to rush on him for a finish in the second round. The initial seconds looked exactly like ‘Poatan’s’ previous victory over Adesanya. ‘The Last Stylebender’ changed things around completely this time. He landed a duet of left jab-right hook combinations and sent Pereira crashing down to the canvas.
Although the UFC cameras only caught a single glimpse of Poatan’s family, a lot of other sources showcased his sons in tears after his loss. Merle was also seen consoling them. However, it was Alessandro Vidal, who looked devastated and cried severely after his father’s loss. Even though many fans consider Adesanya’s post-fight antics to be petty, some would also say he would have never committed to it if he wasn’t mocked in the first place.
Back when both Adesanya and Pereira fought for ‘Glory’ kickboxing, they had two clashes where ‘Poatan’ emerged victorious. But, in their sophomore bout, Pereira’s son, the 7-year-old Alessandro Vidal Silva, made his way into the ring and imitated how Adesanya got knocked out by his father, right beside him, as we’ve mentioned earlier. Apparently, ‘Izzy’ took it personally and vowed it return it someday.

Well, ‘The Nigerian-New Zealander’ chose to have his revenge after his UFC 287 victory. He spotted Alessandro and went as close to him as he could while staying inside the octagon. And then imitated the knock-down crash that his father had a few minutes ago. This was a move that earned Adesanya quite some criticism as well. But he had his own justification for it. ‘Izzy’ stated that Pereira’s son shouldn’t have gotten inside the ring where he and his father were into an adult’s business not suitable for kids.

Alex Pereira’s combat sports career achievements are the stuff of dreams for most fighters. However, it is not the most significant aspect of his life because it is indeed being a father and a good one at that. Following his dominant win over Jamahal Hill at UFC 300, Pereira would explain how much fatherhood means to him and told Sports Illustrated, “I need to be a good example for them. That’s what is most important to me.”
‘Poatan’ is also not the kind of father to force his sons into following his own footsteps. But having seen how their father has been competing in some of the biggest fights ever with Glover Teixeira by his side, Alessandro and Lohan have come to love MMA. “I don’t force them to train. need to set an example. They watch and they want to be part of it. That’s the cool thing. Glover helps show them a lot, too,” Alex Pereira added.
