The UFC authorities have hosted their events in several famous venues to date. Whether it’s the ‘Mecca of combat sports’, the Madison Square Garden, or the coveted O2 Arena in London, ‘Dana White and Co.’ haven’t hesitated in choosing the most reputed indoor arenas of the world for their shows. The insane number of fans attending these events also makes sure that the promotion generates enough profit to keep renting out such coveted arenas. 12 November 2022 was the last time the UFC hosted an event in the coveted Madison Square Garden. Quite expectedly, the UFC 281 recorded an insane crowd attendance of 20, 845 with no more seats left.
Things aren’t much different regarding the international UFC events as well. Apart from other famous indoor arenas of the West, the promotional authorities have rented out the most-reputed indoor arenas in the Eastern part of the world as well. Despite not being able to host an event in the touted Lumpini Stadium to date, a number of UFC fans might be applauding the promotion currently. Fixing the coveted Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney as the venue for the upcoming UFC 293 Adesanya vs. Strickland is nowhere near child’s play.

It’s quite understandable that event authorities might make minor alterations to the seating arrangements of a venue, but they always have a specified number as their maximum seating capacity. The report from the official website of the Qudos Bank Arena reveals that it can hold a maximum of 21,000 people in its seats. But, it falls faintly short of the Madison Square Garden. As already mentioned, the Qudos Bank Arena in Western Sydney is a part of the Sydney Olympic Park. But initially, it wasn’t meant to be a sports and entertainment facility area. It was called the ‘Australia Center’ back in the mid 1980s. The area was actually a tech park that had several large outlets of noted electronic device manufacturers like Philips, Sanyo and BASF.
However, after Sydney acquired the rights to host the 2000 Summer Olympics, the Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) decided to turn this area into a giant sports village. Quite understandably, the construction of the Qudos Bank Arena was also commissioned by the SOPA. It started in the year 1993.
