Former UFC champion Michael Bisping spoke to rising heavyweight contender, Tom Aspinall in a recent iteration of his podcast. ‘The Count’ asked Aspinall about the trajectory of his career and also wanted his take on an upcoming heavyweight title clash. UFC 270 is primed to see Francis Ngannou put his belt on the line against interim champion Ciryl Gane in the main event.
Gane secured the interim title back at UFC 265 when he defeated Derrick Lewis via TKO. The decision to have an interim title was heavily criticized, however, the impending unification bout certainly raises the stakes of the contest overall.

Who walks away with the win at UFC 270?
Bisping and Aspinall talked about who would be favored to come on top and both men were leaning towards Gane. They believe the undefeated Frenchman has studied his former training partner in Ngannou well enough to come out on top. Not to mention, Gane’s striking is considered arguably the very best in the division altogether.

“I think Ngannou the way he fights, he has a massive fear factor with him. He’s kind of like a prime Mike Tyson, no one wants to get hit by him. I think with the skillset of like a Ciryl Gane, is quite unique in his skillset and movement and stuff. I think he has what it takes to win. He’s sparred with him a few times and he’s felt that power and he knows what it feels like.” said Aspinall.
Michael Bisping seemingly cosigned Aspinall’s views, but also talked about Ngannou’s fight-ending power. ‘The Predator’ can change the outcome of a fight with a single punch, and he carries this devastating power deep into the contest. Additionally, the fact that both men formerly trained together is also intriguing to Bisping.

“It’s a good comparison to Mike Tyson. He does have that fear factor. Everyone is sh*t scared of that power. It is interesting because they have sparred with one another. That does kind of change things.”

In the end, the clash between Ngannou and Gane will be one that won’t soon be forgotten by fight fans. Only one man will leave the cage as the undisputed champion, and it has become increasingly hard to predict the outcome of the bout.
