At UFC 307, Alex Pereira made sure that there’s no one to question his legacy after what he did with Khalil Rountree Jr. The Brazilian battered ‘War Horse’ in the fourth round to successfully defend his title for the third time this year. Interestingly, with this victory, Pereira has ousted Ronda Rousey’s long-standing record of subsequent title defense in the shortest time frame( 189 days vs 175 days). Poatan’s rise to the top was such a remarkable story that even former dual-weight champion Conor McGregor couldn’t help but praise the Brazilian for his abilities.
Conor McGregor received a massive payout of $1.2 million after betting that one of the fighters would win by knockout. While having a conversation with ‘The Schmo’, ‘Mystic Mac was asked about his thoughts on Alex Pereira, to which the former dual weight champion said, “2024 has been Alex Pereira’s year, and no one can deny that. If we go by competition alone—forget belts—he’s had four fights this year and four knockouts. His most impressive one was the most recent. I’d put Alex as number one.”
Alex Pereira has not only defeated but also knocked out three top opponents in the last seven months. In addition to that, the Brazilian appears to be looking to became the first three-division champion of the world as he is thinking of jumping divisions to face Jon Jones for the heavyweight belt.’Notorious’ further emphasized that Alex Pereira poses a lot of threat to Jon Jones if they ever decide to face each other, “I’d put Alex as number one. I think he poses a lot of problems for Jon as well.”

He further added, “That’s a dangerous style for Jon, but it’s a decent matchup because Alex isn’t so big. Jon is new to the heavyweight division. He had a nice win against Ciryl Gane, but he’s still untested at heavyweight. I’m sure, in the back of his mind, Jon knows some of these guys are really big. Alex is a solid matchup, but still a dangerous one. At its core, it’s probably even more dangerous. I’d be very excited to see that bout take place, for sure.”
