Joe Rogan has garnered a massive chunk of popularity through his podcast. The show has been running successfully for more than a decade. Moreover, what helped elevate the show’s success to another echelon was the podcaster’s ability to stay true to himself while voicing his opinion.
The comedian has gained a reputation for being extremely blunt and honest while expressing his stance on any ongoing issues or controversy. The 55-year-old doesn’t shy away from expressing what’s on his mind.

Similarly, Rogan shared his thoughts on the infamous incident that took place at the 94th Academy awards wherein Hollywood A-lister, Will Smith, walked to the stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife. Moreover, after smacking the comedian, Smith screamed the words, “keep my wife’s name out of your f**king mouth.”

While the event will forever be remembered for this stint, Rogan spoke on his podcast about how this incident would change the way of what people think of Will Smith. Discussing the same on the recent episode #1881 of his podcast Rogan shared his thoughts.
The conversation took off with Rogan discussing Hollywood while praising Chris Rock simultaneously.
Describing what the public is going to think of Will Smith, the comedian said, “him [Rock] getting slapped and then him trying to go back to comedy and seeing Will Smith like just meltdown in front of him… that moment was probably the end of how anybody will ever think of Will Smith again as this movie star guy, who’s like this happy guy with his family. Who’s like putting together all his incredible films and goes on to win the academy award that night?”

He further added, “… goes on stage and they applaud him after he just assaulted one the greatest comedians that’s ever lived, over the most innocuous joke. The most innocuous. You know, ;I loved in you in G.I. Jane’, like what? That’s it? It’s so mild. And I think that him seeing that, fired up that f**k you furnace.”
The host and his guest, Rick Rubin, then went on to talk about how the incident led to Rock coming out as his funniest self. Furthermore, they felt he delivered a few of the greatest performances on his comedy shows.
Did The Academy take action against Will Smith?
Will Smith received a humongous backlash from the public for his actions. Consequently, the academy decided to take a harsh step against him and banned him from the award show for the next 10 years. Since the incident, the Hollywood A-lister came out and apologized to the comedian multiple times.

Moreover, he even took to his YouTube channel to publicly say sorry to Rock. However, there’s no response from the comedian’s end as yet.
