Joe Rogan is a man after Elon Musk’s heart. The duo, of course, are very good friends, with the UFC commentator getting emotional, at times, talking about the guy he considers a “super genius” and the “savior of free speech.” And lately, Tesla stock has been crashing over the past few months, and the tech billionaire is copping criticism for some actions taken by DOGE like shutting down USAID and targeting scientific research for cuts.
This prompted his UFC commentator friend to use his massive and influential platform to jump to his defense. First, it was a virtual infomercial for Tesla on his JRE podcast. And now, amid the continuing criticism around DOGE, Rogan has jumped to Musk’s defense on that subject, too, as he spoke to comedian Tim Dillon on episode #2307 of the JRE podcast about all the alleged fraud DOGE has found.
“We already know now, because of DOGE, that there was money that was going with no receipts—billions and billions of dollars—that was just flying out with no receipts. They have no idea where it went and Elon openly said, he goes, ‘If this was a public company it would be delisted and the people who ran it would go to prison.’ But because it’s the government you’re like ‘Oh I don’t know what we did, we just [makes whining noises],”” Rogan claimed.

But Dillon seemed a bit skeptical. After all, fraud is a crime. And if DOGE found any real fraud in the government, “Do you think they’ll bring charges against anyone for fraud?” the comedian asked. “That’s the worry about disclosure, I think that’s what’s holding it back,” Rogan replied. But Dillon still seemed unconvinced. “I think people need concrete stuff,” he said, trying to measure his words as he spoke them.
It isn’t exactly clear how the disclosure stops President Trump’s Department of Justice from rounding up any government employees on charges of fraud—if DOGE has evidence of wrongdoing. However, Rogan changed the topic quickly, and that was that. Elon Musk, very pleased with the JRE host jumping to his defense, posted “True,” to a clip of this conversation that he shared on his official X account.

Musk’s popularity among the American people has plummeted since he began working with DOGE because of certain measures it has taken. According to a report by Politico have found that Musk has an over 50% unfavorable rating, with those approving of him hovering in the less than 40% range.
Moreover, DOGE has also faced a lot of setbacks in courts, and this has given rise to a lot of buzz in recent days about the tech titan doing more harm to the Trump administration than good. This has raised one pertinent question in many people’s minds.

Is Elon Musk on shaky grounds in the Trump administration?
The first signs of a small rift between Elon Musk and Donald Trump came in March when the world’s richest man was set to receive a high-level briefing from the Pentagon. Initially, it was reported that the briefing would be on US military plans for China, but reports suggest that Trump stepped in himself to prevent that from happening. After this, the President came out publicly and trashed reports suggesting Musk would be shown any such plans.
“Certainly you wouldn’t show [military plans] to a businessman… Elon has businesses in China, and he would be susceptible perhaps to that… Of course you wouldn’t show [military plans] to a businessman,” the President told reporters at the White House.

Musk, of course, has a Tesla gigafactory in Shanghai, China, and Trump feels that this is a conflict of interest—meaning that the tech billionaire should not be briefed on any military plans that involve China. And since then, it seems the rift has only deepened. According to a report by Politico in February, the President has told his “inner circle, including members of his Cabinet, that Elon Musk will be stepping back in the coming weeks from his current role as governing partner, ubiquitous cheerleader and Washington hatchet man.”
But it has been already more than ‘a few weeks’ since the report and Musk is still in his government role. Every so often there are reports that the President and Musk are not seeing eye-to-eye and claims are made that the tech billionaire would leave DOGE soon. None of them have been true so far. But Musk’s plummeting popularity is a problem that has made his position in the administration much more shaky. What do you think about Joe Rogan’s claims DOGE has found billions in fraud?
