“Whether we burn $500 million a year or $5 billion a year or $50 billion a year, I don’t care,” said OpenAI CEO Sam Altman once while claiming that wealth isn’t what he’s really seeking. But guess what? Joe Rogan decided to take a jibe at the tech entrepreneur after he was caught red-handed driving a luxury mega car, Koenigsegg Regera, and that prompted a hilarious response from Elon Musk.
There isn’t a car as rare as the ones that Swedish car manufacturer Koenigsegg makes, as Regera is priced at around $4.6 million. That’s exactly what makes Sam Altman getting caught driving it on video even more weird. Most tech billionaires often refrain from driving such flashy and ostentatious cars, and when Joe Rogan talked about it, he could only chuckle while asking his JRE producer, Young Jamie, to put up the video of Altman getting caught in that Regera.
“He’s [Sam Altman] always kind of said, ‘I’m not doing this for money. I don’t make any money,’ and they just busted him in a $4 million Koenigsegg,” Joe Rogan stated on a recent JRE episode. “There he is. Hi, busted. Hey bro.” Before the OpenAI CEO responded to Rogan, his frenemy and $200+ billion man, Elon Musk, reacted to Rogan’s comments on his self-owned platform, X. “Bullseye,” Musk tweeted as he lauded the UFC color commentator.

Also, Joe Rogan didn’t seem to mind sharing his unfiltered thoughts about Altman, even though the OpenAI boss had been a guest previously on his multi-million-dollar platform. From his perspective, it was pretty clear that Sam Altman wasn’t necessarily telling the truth. “You don’t buy one of those unless you really want to get rich. And you also want everyone to know how rich you are,” the 57-year-old added.

OpenAI may not be the only artificial intelligence out there, but it sure is a leading one in the market. It was co-founded by Elon Musk in 2015, alongside Peter Thiel, Reid Hoffman, and of course, Sam Altman, who’s now moved over to the CEO role. But just three years after its inception, cracks formed among the partners as Musk left OpenAI, later citing the core problem of this whole situation being certain disagreements.

Joe Rogan, to his guest and comedian friend Tom Segura, also mentioned in his recent podcast episode about Elon Musk “mocking” Sam Altman about the $4+ million car before that video clip reached him. It clearly looks like there are still some unsolved problems between the two former business partners, even after six years of the dissolution of their business relationship.
