Following the recent 60th quadrennial presidential election, Donald Trump once again secured the White House as the 47th President of the United States. Although it has only been a short time since the results were announced, significant changes are already beginning to take shape across America. Joe Biden will remain in office until January 20, 2025, at noon, when Trump’s term will officially begin. Even though there is still over a month before Trump takes office, noticeable shifts are already occurring, including a number of celebrities, such as popular media figure Ellen DeGeneres, considering leaving the country.
This shift is not limited to celebrities, though; changes are already being reflected in mainstream media. In all of this Donald Trump urged Elon Musk, via Twitter, to purchase both CNBC and MSNBC, with the POTUS humorously claiming, “Hey @elonmusk, I have the funniest idea ever!!” This shift has also caught the attention of UFC President Dana White, who recently shared his candid thoughts on the aftermath of Trump’s 2024 election victory during a UFC event. White highlighted the rise of social media as the defining force of modern communication, declaring it the dominant platform of the 21st century.
“The whole country feels like somebody hit the reset button,” White remarked. “Traditional media is dead and no longer holds the influence it once did. The two most hated groups in the world right now are the media and politicians. Nobody trusts them, and nobody believes them. This election was won on the Internet.”

True
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 30, 2024
This statement was shared in a Twitter clip, where Elon Musk also expressed his agreement by commenting, “True,” further reinforcing the idea that X (formerly Twitter) is now the new mainstream media. This isn’t the first time Dana White has criticized traditional media. His recent verdict on its diminishing influence is no longer limited to himself and Elon Musk but now forms a ‘trinity’ with the addition of Joe Rogan. Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, has been credited with playing a significant role in Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory, a topic that was recently discussed on ABC’s The View, hosted by Joy Behar.

Dana White’s critique of traditional media echoed by Joe Rogan
The tug-of-war between Joe Rogan and mainstream media is not new. Their adversarial dynamic dates back to the pandemic, which also marked a turning point in Rogan’s ideological shift from Democrats to Republicans—a pivotal event that has shaped the current media landscape. This shift became evident well before the U.S. presidential election when Rogan, who once hesitated to invite presidential nominees onto his podcast, ultimately did so by having Trump on.
The podcaster’s evolving preferences and close friendship with Dana White paved the way for Donald Trump’s appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, a widely viewed podcast episode that played a notable role in the election. This topic became a focal point on ABC’s The View, where host Joy Behar discussed the influence of podcasts like Rogan’s on Trump’s political resurgence.

What’s your perspective on:
Is traditional media truly dead, or does it still hold sway over American public opinion?
Have an interesting take?
During the show, 82-year-old Behar went so far as to question the credibility of The Joe Rogan Experience, mockingly calling Rogan a “dragon believer.” Although Rogan initially dismissed the remark with humor, he later confronted the criticism directly in his Thanksgiving podcast episode (#2236). In a pointed response, Joe Rogan took aim at traditional media critics, offering a candid and biting critique. “You’re worried about losing your job and worried about podcasts taking over—about who’s the source of news. We said Donald Trump was Hit**r, but half the country disagreed with us, and he won. And this is great. Joe Rogan believes in dragons. It’s just frantic.”
What are your thoughts on Dana White’s statement? Do you agree that traditional media has lost its relevance, having “died” years ago and become little more than a tool for political agendas? On the other hand, does this make X (formerly Twitter) a worthy contender for the title of modern media, considering it is not immune to manipulation? Share your opinion below
