Christian Rodriguez and UFC’s youngest debutant Raul Rosas Jr. fought in the opening fight of the UFC 287 main card, which had a major middleweight main event. There was a lot of hype for the young Mexican fighter to continue the momentum and secure a second consecutive win. But ‘El Nino Problema’ lost the fight via a unanimous decision.
Raul Rosas Jr. got handed his first loss under the UFC banner last weekend as the judges ruled the scorecard in favor of Christian Rodriguez with a score of 29-28, 29-28, 29-28). The 18-year-old fighter later addressed his loss on social media.

Christian Rodriguez didn’t have the upper hand from the beginning of the fight. Rosas Jr. almost had him in a submission position before the round came to an end. However, things later turned in his favor. Raul Rosas Jr. was already spent after going for the submission attempts early on in the first round. He was breathing heavily with his mouth open.
This was the moment when Rodriguez started throwing punches and successfully grappling the 18-year-old down. He started making his own submission attempts in the last ten minutes of the fight. The most decisive moment came in the third round when Rodriguez mounted Rosas Jr. and kept landing some hard blows on the 18-year-old. It was clear that Rodriguez dominated the fight as Rosas Jr. seemed visibly upset after the fight.
‘El Nino Problema’ apologizes for his loss
Raul Rosas Jr. is young and understandably emotional about the loss. He addressed the fight in a story he posted on Instagram. He wrote: “My bad bros. I didn’t have the energy to do what I know or even try. Things happen for a reason n only god knows. My opponent was better tonight. Thank you guys.”

He accepted the fact that Christian Rodriguez was the better man during their fight and that his energy was depleted during the fight. He wasn’t able to attempt any type of move that he knew because of that. However, he thanked his fans for always supporting and loving him and believes that it is God’s plan.
