Edson Barboza is all set to feature at the UFC Fight Event main event against Lerone Murphy next in his career. Barboza previously competed in the lightweight division for many years in the UFC. However, he decided to make a move to the featherweight division in 2019 after a successful stint in the lightweight division.
The Brazilian is coming off a dominating victory in his previous appearance at the UFC Fight Night against Sodiq Yusuff. Before his much-anticipated fight, let us take a look at his walk-around weight.

The featherweight division is one of the most exciting divisions in the UFC at the moment. However, making weight for the division is always a challenge for most athletes. Previously, the Brazilian competed in the 155-pound division before making a move to the featherweight division. He usually walks around between the 145 and 155 range and very rarely misses weight. Before his fight, he weighed in at 145.5 pounds and made the weight successfully.

The Brazilian made a move to the featherweight division, for a new challenge in his career. The 38-year-old said, as quoted by EuroSport, “One day I sat down with my wife and I said I needed to change and do something different. I needed something to motivate me.” He further added that he did face a bit of resentment from his close friends regarding the weight. However, he was confident about the weight cut and added, “The feeling that I have to make 145 is the feeling that I had to make 155 , I just take 10 pounds lighter than normal. It’s not a big deal.”

Barboza, since his move to the featherweight division, has had a bit of a mixed run in the division. Hopefully, he can keep his winning run going. His next opponent is one of the luckiest in the division, as he shared one of his bitter experiences which changed his life completely.

Despite putting in some staggering performances inside the Octagon, the British MMA fighter was never a UFC contender. However, his five-fight winning streak has helped him stake a claim for himself. Before his much-anticipated fight, he made an appearance at the ‘SHAK MMA’ show. During the conversation, he shared a horrific incident where he was shot three times.

The 32-year-old said, “I’ve lived a completely different life before MMA.” He also made it clear that he is now in a completely good mental space currently and added, “It was a great decision, and I feel like its destiny. Obviously, we don’t know what’s gonna happen on Saturday [UFC Vegas 92], but I just feel like now, I can, I can kind of help my family, provide a bit and do good things.” Murphy is one of those lucky individuals who has now got a second chance in life. Hopefully, he can wear the belt for once in his career.
