UFC buffs were left disheartened as UFC head honcho Dana White announced that Conor McGregor had pulled out from the main card at UFC 303 because of an unexpected injury. Although Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka swiftly replaced the card, the disappointment of the UFC fans was quite tangible. All this fiasco made ‘The Notorious’ come up with a heartfelt post on Instagram, which found support from his fans and his long-time friend Ebanie Bridges.

Uploading his picture on his official Instagram handle, McGregor wrote, “Very tough to be ruled out of my scheduled return bout. I picked up an injury prior to the press conference that required more time to heal than was available to me. The decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly, but one made in consultation with my doctors, the UFC, and my team.” He also declared that his fans and opponent deserve his best form and thanked everyone for the messages of support.

McGregor got injured during a fight with Dustin Poirier, that happened two years ago. However, the leg was again injured during training. UFC buffs had been biting their nails off for 11 days before this and were only aided by cryptic messages from UFC and McGregor. So, this news might come as a sad one, but at least they have an answer now.

Fans only had positive things to say to McGregor, unlike the first time when they saw him partying in his pub, weeks before the fight. Even his long-time friend, Ebanie Bridges, joined in to console him.

Most of the comments cheered him up and encouraged him. Although people were disappointed after seeing Conor McGregor party at The Black Forge Inn, they are now consoling him after his injury. The comment that attracted attention, though, was from veteran boxer Ebanie Bridges. The IBF Bantamweight Champion is not only McGregor’s close friend but also the ambassador of his new venture, Forged Irish Stout. So her support is not surprising when McGregor is at a low point in his life. The Australian professional boxer left a comment under his post that read, “Quick recovery.”

This was followed by other fans consoling him in this setback. One fan said, “Heal up, we’ll be ready,” whereas another follower added, “We almost had a McGregor fight before GTA6.” Amid the launch of the world-famous game GTA6, the fans were excited for the Conor McGregor showdown so much so that the UFC fight got more attention! ‘The Notorious’ was coming back after two years and his last fight was with Poirier, which he lost.

He had to get surgery for his shin injury and a titanium plate was fit inside his leg. He was confident while training, even when people were doubtful because of the surgery. However, it seems like the same injury is becoming a setback for him since this fight was also canceled because of that.

While some fans were disheartened, others were hopeful about a future fight. One follower wrote, “Quick recovery man, you are strong.” Another follower encouraged the former double-weight champion and said, “We’ve never rushed the greatness.” A netizen saw hope at the end of 2024 and wrote, “Aint, nobody comes back like the Mac. Let’s go, man.” One fanatic cheered up McGregor and said that success cannot be rushed. They wrote, “Can’t rush success.”

‘Mystic Mac’ might be finding success in his other ventures, be it business or movies, but the fight scene remains in the shadows for him because of an injury. Will McGregor fight this year? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
