According to Moicano, he has witnessed Poirier’s solid striking and ground game during training sessions. Further, he believes that Poirier’s expertise in striking and defensive boxing could potentially give him the edge in this hard-grinding battle.

“I could see a couple of rounds of him fighting and he was pretty solid on the striking”, he said. “Pretty good at the ground, so I think, even though it’s going to be a very hard grinding fight, he got the edge,” the UFC lightweight said.

Moreover, Moicano emphasized the importance of Poirier’s ability to check Gaethje’s leg kicks and keep the fight in the striking range where he excels. “Especially because he got better hands so if he can check the kicks, keeping the fight on the striking, on the boxing distance. Poirier has the better boxing, the defensive boxing. He defends better.”
