The UFC’s lightweight division is about to have a great fight as Charles Oliveira will defend his undisputed belt against Dustin Poirier. MMA enthusiasts are excited to see if Poirier will become the new champion or whether Oliveira will successfully retain his title. Conor McGregor’s coach and retired MMA fighter, John Kavanagh, too, is excited about what will be ‘Do Bronx’s first title defense.
In an interview, Kavanagh said, “God, it’s a great fight. I’d probably be leaning towards Dustin. But man, Charles is follow, he is a great one to follow, and he’s talking about that story of, you know, coming up and going down and having ups and downs.”

He continued, “But he has that mindset of learning from mistakes, learning from failures. All these years later he’s still continuing to improve.”
Kavanagh concluded, “He’s so dangerous now in all aspects of mixed martial arts… He’s a great fighter everywhere. I just think Dustin would have a little bit more experience of him and a little bit more at this stage.”

Dustin Poirier has faced some of the best lightweights like Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje, and many more. He has surely gained a lot of experience. However, Oliveira, too, has fought outstanding fighters like Michael Chandler, Tony Ferguson, Holloway, and others.
Thus, Oliveira vs Poirier is an elite fight that would provide fireworks and attract the attention of the entire MMA world.

In the interview, Kavanagh also revealed that ‘The Notorious’ is jacked and is currently working on his strength. The Irish fighter is set to start full-on combat training. McGregor seems to look forward to getting back in the octagon in 2022.
