Former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier recently found himself in a scuffle with a fan. He and his wife attended the Youngsville Mardi Gras parade last weekend. However, ‘The Diamond’ was approached by a fan who carried a sign that demeaned his wife. Poirier wasn’t too pleased about it and got a bit physical with the prankster.

After his last fight with Conor McGregor in 2021, Dustin Poirier was screamed at by the Irishman, who said, “Your wife is in my DMs.” Moreover, that comment stuck with ‘The Diamond’ and became a source of memes for fans. According to McGregor, Poirier’s wife had sent him some messages suggesting she was interested in him.

Dustin Poirier didn’t take that comment about his wife into liking and consequently beat Conor McGregor at UFC 264. He even inflicted an injury on the Irishman in that fight, which caused McGregor to go for surgery on his knee. At the Mardi Gras parade, a prankster displayed that same comment on Poirier’s wife in a sign.

Dustin Poirier slaps a man for derogatory comments about his wife

‘The Diamond’ and his wife were seen riding in a jeep and addressing the people during the parade. However, a man appeared with a sign that read: “Hey Dustin, your wife’s in my DMs.” Most people believe that the man was apparently a Conor McGregor fan. Moreover, as soon as Poirier saw the sign, he leaned toward the man. The stranger thought that the former interim UFC champion was going for a high-five. But Poirier slapped him in the face after pulling his hand back to draw him in. The video of that incident went viral on TikTok.

That derogatory gesture from the random stranger clearly annoyed ‘The Diamond’. Poirier even attempted to confront the stranger after getting out of the car. But he decided not. The man clearly got the message from the former interim UFC champion and refrained from speaking ill about Poirier’s wife.

There have been several instances when MMA fans go too far with their dissension towards a fighter and heckle them with unnecessary and derogatory comments and gestures. But some fighters are quick to respond and give them a taste of their own medicine.
