It’s done! The return plans for Conor McGregor have gone bust once again, and Dana White has set up a new main event for UFC 303. As the June 29th card faced shake-ups, the Irishman chose to remain silent on his situation, but on the other side, somebody made an unsavory comment about what unfolded. That comment came from none other than his former rival, Dustin Poirier.

The $20 million gate for UFC 303 was for nothing, after all. The most important part of the pay-per-view, Conor McGregor, pulled out at the last moment, reportedly due to an injury, which he had hinted about recently on his social media handles. But guess what? Dustin Poirier isn’t impressed and took a jibe at McGregor on X.

Branding Conor McGregor as a “#NothingBurger,” Dustin Poirier clearly showed how he doesn’t like people talking about the Irishman when he can’t seem to find his way back inside the Octagon. The term “nothing burger” was first used by Conor McGregor, for dubbing UFC 302, which Poirier headlined, a boring event. And now that the tables have turned, Poirier made sure to give him a reply.

Dustin Poirier may have lost his third chance to win undisputed gold, but he always had the fans on his side, especially due to the level of activity he’s shown while fighting under the UFC banner. A moderately consistent performer, with a loss here and there, ‘The Diamond’ has been one of the most active UFC athletes and a bankable fighter for Dana White. Conor McGregor, on the other hand, has been the complete opposite, getting less active over the years. Now, his hiatus stands at three years.

Moreover, the last fight at UFC 264 showed the fans that the animosity between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor hadn’t gone anywhere. The duo has never let go of an opportunity to take shots at each other and now in the wake of the UFC 303 headliner’s change, ‘The Diamond’ claims that all the talk about ‘The Notorious’ does not seem to have any kind of substance.

When Dana White announced that McGregor was out with an injury, he made sure to fill in an active fighter, also a champion, in the main event of UFC 303, with Alex Pereira. Pereira will defend his title in a rematch against Jiri Prochazka, who will try to do what he failed to do last time. Meanwhile, ‘Poatan’ opened up on the reason he accepted such a short-notice fight after the announcement made by Dana White.

Alex Pereira speaks after replacing ‘The Notorious’

The rematch between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka was already a much-discussed fight, with people believing that this fight will have a proper build-up before getting announced. But would you believe it? Dana White decided that it would be an appropriate replacement for the Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler fight, which indicates that the UFC CEO has high regard for the Brazilian. And as Pereira stated on Instagram, the ability to step up when needed is why he thinks he’s one of the biggest stars in the UFC.
